- Acquiring knowledge, representing it in an explicit and formal way, and supplying suitable mechanisms to re-use it and improve it inside organizations is a complex task. The Smart Knowledge Management System (SKMS) defines the processes and components required to capture, store, improve, re-use, and transmit experience through generations of decision makers. SKMS is based upon the concept of Decisional DNA, a structure that captures decisional fingerprints inside organizations from formal decision events that are represented by Set Of Experience Knowledge Structure (SOEKS). Nowadays, organizations need to share their knowledge with others when pursuing a common objective, and to achieve this, SKMS proposes a Community of Practice (CoP) called the EDecisional Community. In this CoP, similar systems interact with each other creating new knowledge, and thus, new experience. This chapter presents a global vision of how the EDecisional Community should be designed to attain automated, autonomous and intelligent cooperation between different organizations to create and share experiential knowledge. For this purpose, Software Agents are used because of their social abilities, communicational skills and proactive behavior. They act as representatives for each organization involved as part of a large Knowledge-Oriented Multi-Agent System (KOMAS). KOMAS aims to promote inter-organizational cooperation by allowing, not only information, but ls:nowledge sharing through Knowledge Oriented Services (KOS) and ontologies. A Virtual Organization (VO) based on a Grid infrastructure is proposed as a robust and scalable solution to support knowledge exchange processes. The Grid offers the processing and storage capabilities required to create a common knowledge repository; thus, extends the limits of the SKMS.
